Celebrate the National Day of Service With…Gift Cards?
This year on Martin Luther King Day, a national day of service, help families with seriously ill children in need of urgent financial assistance by donating your unused gift cards! Rummage your desk drawers, search in the back of your wallet and scour your house for any unused gift cards you may have leftover. The Andre Sobel River of Life Foundation will give these cards to families experiencing the dual crises of a child with a critical illness and financial despair.
We welcome gift cards from all sources- grocery stores, drugstores, clothing stores, national chains (like Target, Walmart, Costco and Starbucks) — any card that can be used somewhere has value to us! Our favorite kind of gift card to receive is one for gas (visit the website of any major gasoline company to purchase a new one). Giving gas cards enables parents who may otherwise be unable to travel back and forth to the hospital to be at a child’s side during treatment.
The skills you need are simple. The most important thing is your desire to help!
Give your kids something to do on their day off from school – send them on a treasure hunt around your house for old gift cards. OR, use the day off as an excuse to clean out your desk! Send us the gift cards you find.
When mailing gift cards or ordering them online, please ship to:
