Meet Luis

Luis is a six year old boy with an aggressive brain tumor.  His sole caregiver is his single dad, who works as a cook in a restaurant.  Due to the economic downturn, the restaurant hasn’t been doing so well, and Dad has been assigned fewer shifts.  He’s implored his boss for more work so that he can support Luis, but has been turned down every time.  As if this financial pinch were not stressful enough on the family, their expenses are further challenged by the cost of frequent trips to and from the hospital for essential treatment:  a 170 mile trip one way.  ASRL felt privileged to pay rent for Luis’s family while they wait to receive state support, so that they can continue to live in their apartment while Luis can make a full recovery.
