Meet Jeremy
Handsome and athletic Jeremy has endured more than any teen should bear. What started as a trip to the emergency room for a fall during a soccer game turned into a family’s worst nightmare: Jeremy was diagnosed with osteosarcoma – a cancer of the bone which eventually spread to his lungs. His single mother dropped everything to care for him, an ordeal of more than 10 surgeries, endless trip to the hospital, three double lung surgeries and the amputation of his left femur and knee. When Mom contacted ASRL her situation was urgent: she had already lost her home, and now was behind on rent to her landlord, on her car payments and insurance. ASRL immediately assisted Jeremy’s family with these expenses and later joined other friends and family to help pay for the trip to an out of state hospital to pay for life-saving surgery. Through it all, Jeremy is brave and uncomplaining….his mother’s hero, and she his. Jeremy’s mother writes to ASRL, “It has been a hard two years, and emotionally challenging as well. You have relieved so much pressure. You are our angels – thank you!”
