Meet Carina
When Carina was diagnosed with leukemia, the doctors told her mother that Carina had about a two percent chance of survival. Devastated, her mother immediately took off from work to spend every remaining moment with her daughter. She was absolutely determined be with Carina at all costs, even though she would not be paid during that time and had no other source of income and feared she might lose her house. When ASRL heard the family’s story, they provided Carina’s mother with rent and household utility bills for as long as she needed to remain out of work. They also bought meals in the hospital for Carina’s mother and brother, so that the family could spend as much time together as possible in Carina’s final days. After Carina’s passing, her mother said “I understand that life gives us many blessings, and takes them away too. ASRL was a blessing.”
