Meet Maddie

Maddie is a two-year-old girl coping with serious complications following a birth injury.  She has a long list of illnesses to cope with, including a seizure disorder, cerebral palsy, and mental retardation.  The toddler needs nearly constant attention and assistance with all her daily living needs.  Her parents are not in the picture, so she lives with her guardian aunt.  Her grandmother also assists with carrying for her, and she has regular home nursing care.  The family was coping well, until a sudden and catastrophic loss: Maddie’s guardian aunt suffered a stroke and died in intensive care. The family, on top of struggling with their immense grief over this tragedy, had difficulty paying the heavy hospital expenses.  ASRL immediately assisted with payment for housing and groceries while the family stabilized and re-focused on carrying for Maddie.
