Jonathan has sickle cell anemia. His mother has been “let go” from two different jobs to due to excessive absences related to her son’s health needs. This mother and son family has struggled financially throughout his illness because of this, but his mother is unwilling to sacrifice being there for Jonathan. ASRL provided rent, telephone and gas payments for the family so she could continue to be by his side.

Working in partnership with 12 pediatric hospitals nationally, we have helped over 7,000 family members in the past nine years. Without ASRL’s support, many children with life threatening illnesses would be facing pain, treatments, fear, and at times, even their death, without a parent by their side.
